XD They were on a stall inside, got them for £10. It's actually thanks to you that I've decided to start making my OWN Loki cosplay. Can't start buying stuff for it until the 12th June though D: Can I ask you for advice on what sorta stuff to use that cheap-ish/reasonably priced and easy to get hold of? I live in Nottingham if that helps shop wise. XD
Oh my! <3 I'm rather flattered you found me inspiring xDDD this comment is gonna be huge btw.
I live around london so I'm not sure I can direct you to places, unless there is a Fabric Land near you (it sells things waaaay cheaper than most places, and I think you can buy fabric online to be delivered, which is definitely worth doing). I definitely recommend shopping around for a lightweight leatherette (fabric land's leatherette is good), and you'll probs want to buy around 4 metres depending on your size) because the layers get heavy really fast >.< also, if you're short on money, any thin cotton (or poly-cotton, which would crease less) green for the lining is good. That's usually like £2-3 a metre xD mine's from fabric land. Also for the leatherette; extra strong thread is a MUST. Most sewing stores sell it, and I'd get at least 3 reels of it tbh.
Armour wise: get BLUE (best thickness, green is too thin and pink/grey is too fat) camping foam (from ebay or argos; it's £5-7 per mat which is more than big enough) which you can mold to fit you by heating on the hob for 5 seconds and then pressing onto your arms/whatever (it doesn't burn don't worry; and you can remold as many times as you want), and craft/funky foam (you can get a pack of ten sheets for £2 in The Works) for the details.
In terms of painting the armour, I recommend Belton or Montana spray pain (£5-7), it's more expensive than cheap paint but the cans last ages and they don't chip or crack so easily. Also get some varnish (any cheap stuff will do the trick, it's sold in wilkos I think) to help strengthen it and keep it from chipping :3 also do several layers of paint and varnish both; tis worth it, trust me, because the armour is the weakest part.
Also I recommend buying the trousers rather than making them, because sewing together leather trousers is the worst thing in existence xD but tis your choice.
...I'm sorry that turned into a huuuuuuge essay >.> but that's my advice XD
What about the shoes/boots? What would you recommend? :3 I've got a bit of advice about things from another friend who's making a Loki cosplay, but this is my first time ever making ANY cosplay. So I'd appreciate all the advice I can get, really.
oh jeez. You're ambitious @__@ loki for a first cosplay... I wish you much luck, because leatherette is horrific to sew (BUY LEATHER NEEDLES! They are god sends, along with extra strong thread). I've been cosplaying for years and I still hate using it XD
I used new rocks for my shoes, but tbh any kind of bikery/military/masculine shoe will work (Doc Martens would work well, assuming they're dark brown or black). He's meant to have chaps on his calves anyway (I didn't have time for them, so I just used my new rock boots as they give a similar effect xD) I'd say aim for something comfortable, because wearing that much leather is not XD
We did perv at the cat ears indeed xD

And okie :3 Thank you very much for all the advice, I've got it saved and ready to re-read over when I buy what I need.
What would you suggest for the chains and muzzle?
